Carmen Canedo

Two days till Christmas, folks! One of today’s gifts to you is “Nothing Less Nothing More”, off of Carmen Canedo’s sophomore album, Know It All. Carmen is a Nashville and DC based musician who grew up surrounded by musicians. In an interview with Audiofemme, she describes her upbringing, “Either your friends are musicians or your friend’s parents are musicians, and that’s been so true for me”. After growing up in Nashville, she later made her way to Smith College and then American University. Know It All, written over a two year period, is a reflection of her formative time there. In fact, the opening “Morrow,” was “named after the house she lived in on campus at Smith, reflects the universal feeling of adjusting to a new environment, surrounded by new people while longing for home” (Cellia Houghton). Overall, the album is a fantastic piece of work from start to finish.
